Why “Pour Moi”?

“Pour Moi” means for me—and this blog truly is. It’s a space for my personal journey in fashion styling, sewing, and design. The name was chosen not as a brand, but as a tribute to a small, unforgettable boutique that once existed on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in the late 1970s.

Nestled on Second Avenue in the East 60s, the original Pour Moi was a hidden gem—a fairyland of fashion enchantment. Inside, the air was perfumed with roses, sandalwood, cypress, and amber. Handmade crystal jewelry sparkled beside vintage-inspired heart-shaped pieces. Scarves became blouses, and blouses became bed jackets with wide flaring sleeves and belted bodices. Even magic wands—pink, glittering, and filled with scented rosebuds—were part of the charm.

That boutique left a lasting impression on me. It was intimate, imaginative, and unapologetically feminine. It’s that same spirit I hope to evoke through my blog and my design labels:
Originals by Emily Ann May and RetroGlam by EmilyAnn.

A Note of Clarification:
This blog, Pour Moi, is not affiliated with or inspired by the U.K. lingerie brand of the same name. There has never been any connection, and the use of the URL pormoi.com reflects my intention to differentiate clearly. My work is rooted in personal memory, creative exploration, and heartfelt homage.
